Manzke Estate Backyard Wedding: Suzie & Jon

Weddings

What a fun wedding it was for Suzie & Jon!

This is our first backyard wedding but we didn’t quite expect the size of their event until we saw how huge the tent was when we got there! The Manzke’s were such great friends with Suzie and Jon. It was so generous of them to allow these two to celebrate their love at their estate. The Manzke’s had a man-made little beach that featured island decorations that makes you feel like you’re in a tropical island. Their house overlooks a vast area of land with tall grass, trees and even a small pond. At their balcony, you can leisurely sit on a porch chair and watch the beautiful sunset. Too bad the wedding was mostly held at the beach area and we totally missed the sunset. But it’s okay! We still enjoyed photographing every bit of their day.

Suzie got ready at her house while Jon got ready at his Best Man’s house. My favorite part of the getting ready portion of the day was their Dalmatian, Riley. My least favorite part – photographing Jon’s Green Bay Packer-themed outfits. LOL! Sorry, not sorry. Chicago Bears fans here. *wink wink* They officially tied the knot at the Saint Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church. The church was literally so full! They are loved by so many families and friends. I truly appreciated that they both took the time to greet and hug each and every guest that was there to witness their unity after they said their “I do’s.”

We all hopped into the party bus after and drove around a few places to take their bridal party portraits. Not only did they have their bridal party there, they also had their closest friends, which made it a lot of fun! We drove to their favorite ice cream place, The Kiltie. After that, we drove to a secluded barn where we spent most of our time for the rest of the afternoon.

By the time we got to the Manzke’s, the sun had set, sadly. However, more and more families and friends were arriving which took much of the couple’s attention. I, on the other hand, was busy taking photos of the many DIYs that Suzie made for this event. She’s very artistic, I’m so jealous of it. As soon as the party started, there was no amount of mosquitoes that can stop the fun that night. LOL! The dance floor was packed that entire night! Kudos to the DJ who kept the crowd pumped! Jon and his college friends got hyped up on the dance floor when “Come on Eileen” played. They had a specific choreography to it that’s probably common knowledge to those who knew the tune to Dexys Midnight Runners, but to me, it was something totally different yet loads of fun to watch!

Thank you Suzie and Jon for trusting us to capture these wonderful moments on your wedding day! Hope to hang out with you guys again soon!

What started as a childhood hobby evolved into a great passion. Hours after I got engaged, I browsed through dozens of wedding photographers' portfolios and realized I was looking at my dream job. I fell in love with the idea of telling people's stories in images rather than words. It is my utmost goal to make you look back at these memories we create together as if you're experiencing these moments again, nostalgic yet exquisite.
