I can’t believe Jade’s already a senior in high school! It seems that it wasn’t that long ago since I took her sister’s senior portrait session when I was just starting out. I’ve been photographing this family and her cousin’s family ever since I’ve been building up my portfolio. It always warms my heart when my Wisconsin clients still reach out to me despite my move back to Illinois.
When Jade walked out of their car to meet us in the parking lot of Seven Bridges in Grant Park, I was stunned at how much she has grown. Aside from her beauty and gorgeous smile, this gal has wit, humor and infectious energy! Any specific ideas I had to shoot, she was game. She followed my prompts and instructions with ease. Lie down on the bridge; go underneath the bridge; take off your shoes and walk barefoot on the sand; skip through the shore (despite the cold water coming through) – she did them all joyfully with poise. I felt pride like I am her big sister watching her pose for her own senior portrait session! And that wonderful smile of hers stuck on the whole time! Her eyes – they do know how to “smize.”
I miss you and your family so much. [insert sad face]. We hope to see your whole family again, but this time, tagging along our little bundle of joy that’s currently inside my belly. I wish you all the best luck in the world in your college and career endeavors. I’m sure you will do so well, Jade!
What started as a childhood hobby evolved into a great passion. Hours after I got engaged, I browsed through dozens of wedding photographers' portfolios and realized I was looking at my dream job. I fell in love with the idea of telling people's stories in images rather than words. It is my utmost goal to make you look back at these memories we create together as if you're experiencing these moments again, nostalgic yet exquisite.
